Elevated Lakeside Living: A Poolside Retreat in Lake Geneva

Designed for summer hosting at its finest, this Lake Geneva pool and cabana retreat was created with one goal in mind: bringing people together. The client envisioned a generous outdoor space where family and friends could gather, unwind, and soak in sweeping lake views—and the design team at Chalet delivered, with intention in every detail.

With the property directly bordering the lake, pool placement was all about maximizing the view. That vision came with its fair share of challenges. Between strict side-yard and lake front setbacks and the significant stormwater that naturally flows through the twenty-two-acre site, the design required both creativity and precision. Working closely with a civil engineer, the Chalet team developed an elegant solution—raising the pool four and a half feet above the existing grade and integrating a series of thoughtfully designed walls and steps. The result not only creates a seamless transition to the pool and entertainment area, but also expertly redirects stormwater around the space.

A project of this caliber called for equally elevated materials and craftsmanship, making the collaboration with Hirsch Brick and Stone an essential part of the process. Chalet and Hirsch worked hand-in-hand to install custom brick retaining walls, Valders Dove White Limestone terraces and steps, and beautifully detailed bull-nosed limestone pool copings. These refined hardscape elements anchor the space while complementing the home’s lake side setting.

To finish it all off, a new planting plan was designed and installed, weaving the pool and cabana seamlessly into the property’s mature landscape. The end result is a cohesive, timeless outdoor destination—perfect for summer days, sunset gatherings, and everything in between.
